Once upon a time...
...there have been splitted up to bands "Smut Peddlers"
and "Hangin' Outs" and each two of them found together
for a jam session in fall 1995..
From first second, there was rhythm, it rocked!! So the 4 boys
decided to continue and started for serious rehearsals. The name
of the band was found in Marvin Rainwaters classic song "Hot'n'Cold".
The first live appearance came already two months later and has
been as support act for a skiffle group on 25 Nov 1995. The first
concert for the Rock'n'Roll scene and the Hamburg audience took
place on 27 Dec 1996 at the "Knust" as support act for
the Englisg "Playboys".
In February 1997 Jimmy joined the band and brought a third voice
into the band. Since that time Martin changed between leadguitar
and steel guitar. More and more concerts within the scene but also
commercial gigs followed. The band made the second place at a band
contest and won studio days. These have been used for the first
vinyl single "Play my Boogie", released in 1998.
The biggest and most overwhelming live performance has been at
Hemsby, England in May 2000. Very rarely a band got so much encores
the organiser said...and that in view of the role Hot'n'Cold had..the
headliner of the evening Ronnie Dawson played directly before them.
Since 2000 there have been many replacements due to several reasons
which may be usual for a hobby band and different plans of each
band member. Among these changing members are: Jörn Ricke,
Nick Meier, Sebastian Franke, Randy Richter andMichael Kielas. The
last official concert of Hot'n'Cold for some longer time has been
on 04 Dec 2004 on an "Oldie night" in Marne (Northern
Germany)..
After this complete split up the most basic members Martin and
Joker searched for new ways and started a trio without drums called
"Red Martin Combo". In fact the line up is 3/4 of the
1995 Hot'n'Cold line up (Joker,Martin and Danny).
So it was not too far away to to do some gigs with the original
Hot'n'Cold drummer/singer Marcel after he several times said he
would like to play with the 3 guys. And so since September 2008
the quartet is rockin' the towns again.
And 2009 will be something special for the band: backing up Mr
Art Adams (Rock Crazy Baby, Dancing Doll) in Denmark on the famous
"Bedrock Festival".
Line up:
Marcel B - drums, vocals
Red Martin - lead guitar, vocals
Lil` Dan - acoutic guitar, vocals
Grinin` Joker - acoustic bass
